Here is some Trivia for you: The origin of the pretzel.
The shape of the pretzel was developed by a monk about 610 A.D. in one of the monasteries of Southern France or Northern Italy. Its form represents childrens arms folded in prayer.
It found its way to the Alps and into Austria and Germany. Often used during early Christian Lenten season.
All through Europe vendors sold them on the streets; people would eat them for lunch together with a stein of their mild beer.
